Summary: If you want to try writing with a fountain pen...try this first
Comment: Before I ventured whole hog into the land of refillable fountain pens, I started with the Pilot Varsity. One of the most important things with any fountain pen is that it write smoothly, without and skipping, hard-starting or scratchiness. I've purchased two of these pens, (one black and one purple) and each of them wrote quite smoothly.
I did notice that the nibs are very easy to damage. Slipping this pen back into it's cap while tilted on a slight angle (yes, completely my fault) caused me to bend one of the nib tines to the degree that it was unusable and had to be thrown away. Nibs on regular/refillable fountain pens are made of a much stronger material, and while they still can be damaged, are not as flimsy as the material used on the Varsity nibs.
The next thing I noticed, wasn't until I bought my first, (2nd, 3rd, 4th , etc.) non-disposable fountain pen. The Varsity nibs write really, really wide and on cheap paper, the ink bleeds and feathers all over the place. It's just not suitable for all kinds of paper.
Keeping in mind that it's a disposable pen, it's actually a great way to test the waters before venturing into the land of fountain pens. Fountain pens in general require very little pressure to write and the Varsity is no exception. A light hand will deliver a solid line. Being able to write with light pressure allows a person to write for longer periods of time with less hand fatigue and cramping - which is why I use a fountain pen 98% of the time.

Summary: The Adventure of Writing
Comment: Most people - myself included - easily become too addicted to the computer to allow themselves to take the time to sit down with pen and paper for the sake of writing any more. It's hard as both a student and a journalist to persuade myself that material writing as opposed to digital writing has its merits. However, when I write with this pen, in either a journal or a class notebook, the writing is less of a chore and more of an experience. The Varsity is both beautiful and practical, a useful office tool and a talking point. On the plus side, the ink dries super-quick, which means lefties like myself don't have to worry about dragging lines of wet ink across the page. It also lacks the real expense of a fine fountain pen (even though it writes like one) so if you drop it or bend the nib it won't cost you $100+; simply grab a new one out of the box. All in all a wonderful tool that does all the things expected of it and more.

Summary: Great pen for a great price and not a compromise in quality
Comment: I have to say that for a pen that is less than $2 I did not expect it to be such a good pen. It writes smooth, delivers proper amount of ink and feels confortable in your hand. A real rare find. I also bought another Pen for $20 and was a bit disappointed compared to this one. I've played around with some fountain pens in the $100 range and did not feel even as good as his pen. I hope they don't raise the price based on te good reviews though.

Summary: Great disposable pen
Comment: This is a fantastic disposable pen. While not quite the same quality as a "real" fountain pen, this pen is at least one order of magnitude cheaper. It's well beyond the level of a normal disposable stick pen and well worth the price. I'm also pleasantly surprised at how much ink it contains -- I've replaced the cartridge in my reusable fountain pen about three times when writing about the same amount as I have with this pen.
If you're looking for a great disposable pen or are curious about fountain pens, I heartily recommend this pen. My only nitpick is that the pen itself looks ugly and cheap; the pinstriping on it is just awful. But for $2 what can you expect? It's not enough to make me dock it a star... this is just a good product all around.

Summary: These are cool!
Comment: As a fountain pen lover I was curious to try these little things as a novelty. Of course, it's no Pelikan, but pretty decent and you will get your bangs for both bucks. The body is slim and light-weight with a moderately good balance with posted cap. The nib is a bit toothy but it delivers a smooth, wet line with no skips or feathering. It handles a rapid hand as well as the cautious.
I tested it in a Moleskine and felt that it performed beyond my expectations. Colors are good and vivid, ink flows well, dries fairly quickly and did not bleed. Barrel and feed stayed dry and did not spot my fingers.
Just get a few for the fun of it!
